Welcome!
This is a collection of personal musings on the Filipino cultural identity, in all of its beauty and contradiction. Specifically, this e-book contains five essays:
- Coconut Mother
- The Filipino as onion and adobo
- Jollibee, Trese, and the burden of Filipino'representation'
- By the leaves instead of numbers
- Snacks from my childhood: going, going, gone
Through these essays, I try to articulate my viewpoint on Philippine culture: that one needs to make space for duality in order to fully appreciate it. Hopefully this creates a space for more nuanced conversation regarding our national identity.
Happy reading!
